It is appropriate that I should have come ashore from the Royal Yacht Britannia to inaugurate Jebel Ali Port. Though completion of this gigantic project is still many months ahead, the ceremony today means that a significant mile stone has been passed.
Her Majesty Queen Elizabeth II

Made by Green Park Productions, a division of Cygnet Guild Comms Ltd - 1979

This film clip, which focuses on Dubai, is taken from a longer film called, "The Queen in Arabia" which recorded the 1979 Royal tour to Kuwait, Saudi Arabia, Bahrain, Qatar, the UAE and Oman.

The tour began with the Queen arriving in Kuwait on Concorde and then continued aboard the Royal Yacht Britannia.

The three week itinerary included a visit to Dubai where the Queen was met by Sheikh Rashid. She opened many new projects including the new port at Jebel Ali.
