A Roger Cherrill Associates Ltd production for Sir William Halcrow and Partners - 1975
For many years the neighbourhoods of Deira and Shindagha in Dubai were linked by a single bridge over the Creek. Delays were common as it often opened to allow free passage to water borne traffic.
The Ruler of Dubai therefore commissioned Sir William Halcrow and Partners to carry out a feasibility study for a new and more direct link.
Halcrow then went on to design for building a tunnel near the mouth of the Creek. Costain Civil Engineering Ltd were awarded the contract for constructing the tunnel.
