Featured project - Rebuilding homes … and lives
£60,000 to re-house displaced families, Sri Lanka
At a cost of £60,000, the Halcrow Foundation has organised the construction of 29 houses in Galle, Sri Lanka, for people made homeless in the Indian Ocean tsunami.
Over a number of years, the foundation has directly financed 17 houses and teamed up with the Erach and Roshan Sadri Foundation (ERSF) to provide funding for a further 12 homes.
Once built, the houses are given to poor local families who were unable to obtain assistance from the government or from another charity or non-governmental organisation.
