Abu Dhabi is the capital of the United Arab Emirates and Halcrow has a large and thriving office in the Al Batteen marina district.
The office accommodates some 200 planners, designers and other technical specialists, to support the hundred or so Halcrow people working on construction supervision at local sites.

Our earlier work in Abu Dhabi included master planning for the young city in the 1960’s, marine and port works and the start of our long association with the Abu Dhabi airport.
Our more recent achievements include:
- structural design review, design development and site supervision of the award-winning, iconic Abu Dhabi Grand Mosque.
- design and construction supervision of infrastructure works for Yas Island and the Shahama – Saadiyat freeway. The interchange on the Abu Dhabi – Dubai freeway is one of the largest in the UAE, comprising twelve bridges and four underpasses.
- engineering design for TDIC’s Qasr al Sarab desert resort in Liwa
