Halcrow is leading the way in the development of flood risk assessment and management studies for the Office of Public Works and Local Authorities in Ireland.

In conjunction with the OPW, we have developed methods and tools for undertaking these studies including a flood defence asset database, flood mapping formats, uncertainty estimation in flood risk mapping and a robust and transparent decision-making process.  These tools will support the OPW in delivering a national programme of FRAM studies and in meeting the requirements of the EU Floods Directive.

The services provided by Halcrow and Halcrow Barry in undertaking these studies include:

  • management of topographic surveys
  • flood defence asset condition surveys
  • hydrological analysis
  • hydraulic modelling of rivers and coasts
  • pluvial flood risk assessment
  • groundwater flood risk assessment
  • flood hazard and risk mapping
  • flood risk receptor assessment
  • economic assessment
  • strategic SUDS assessment
  • flood forecasting assessing
  • flood risk management options appraisal
  • strategic environmental assessment
  • development of a strategic flood risk management strategy and plan
