October 2011
Halcrow’s annual technical paper competition celebrates the best ideas and innovations from across the company. Every year, the top externally published papers authored by employees are whittled down to a handful of finalists. The event to announce the 2011 winner was held in October at Halcrow’s global headquarters in London.
Clients, employees, academics and other invited guests enjoyed a talk by guest speaker Paul Morrell, the UK government’s chief construction adviser. With the five finalists waiting anxiously, the competition’s sponsor Tim Broyd announced the results. Honourable mention went to Ollie Pearce, the driving force behind the HalSTAR sustainability rating system, but the overall winner was Roger Moore, with his study of climate change impacts on cliff instability.
