Halcrow has had a presence in Brazil since the 1970s and in 2002 we established in Rio De Janeiro as a local company.
Throughout 2009-2010 we undertook due diligence assessments of 2,484km of road concessions on behalf of Albertis who required reliable information in support of financing for a possible concession bid.
Road concessions in three states were analysed: 1,034km in Rio Grande do Sul, 643km in Sao Paulo and 407km in Minas Gerais. Most of the roads are two lane roads in good condition with some dual highways, mainly in Sao Paulo.
Our study required a characterisation of the road network based on field surveys and the production of traffic and revenue forecasts up to 2020 or 2040 depending on the road corridor. We also looked at the potential impact of rail competition.
