Flood risk indicators are used to quantify and visualise the impacts of flooding.

Halcrow, in partnership with the Flood Hazard Research Centre (FHRC), were appointed by the Office of Public Works to carry out a scoping study into flood risk assessment indicators, methods and datasets.

The EU Floods Directive and national flood risk management policies impose a number of requirements on the assessment of current and future flood risk, and the impacts of flooding that should be considered.

Flood risk indicators are used to quantify and visualise the impacts of flooding. This study presents a review of flood risk indicators, along with the methods and data used in their calculation.
