Halcrow’s Cross Valley link road is highly commended

Trevor Rackley accepts the award on behalf of the project team, from Peter Hansford

The project, which Halcrow designed and supervised for the Homes and Communities Agency, had already been rated “excellent” under CEEQUAL in 2009.

Halcrow's Cross Valley link road project in Northampton has been recognised by the Civil Engineering Environmental Quality Assessment and Award scheme (CEEQUAL), at its outstanding achievement awards.

The awards select the 'best of the best' projects assessed by CEEQUAL from 2007 through to 2010. Cross Valley link road was highly commended for its environmental project management, only losing out on the top prize to the London 2012 Olympic Park project. Halcrow project director Trevor Rackley accepted the award on behalf of the project team, from Peter Hansford, president of the Institution of Civil Engineers.

The project, which Halcrow designed and supervised for the Homes and Communities Agency, had already been rated “excellent” under CEEQUAL in 2009.

At the same event, CEEQUAL launched two new versions of its assessment methodology, to cater for non-UK projects and for UK term contracts, the latter of which Halcrow is currently trialling with Transport Scotland. Like the original version of CEEQUAL for UK projects, these aim to improve sustainability in civil engineering and the public realm.
