Michael Bahleda has joined Halcrow as a senior energy consultant for the company’s North American power division.
Based in Arlington, Virginia, Mike will be responsible for hydropower project development for both conventional hydropower and emerging hydrokinetic technologies.
Mike brings over 30 years’ experience in the energy business and has worked across a broad set of industry issues including fossil and hydro construction, hydro operations and maintenance, fossil plant life extension, hydro licensing, and emerging hydrokinetic development. High-profile clients include the Department of Energy, Verdant Power, the Electric Power Research Institute, Public Service New Mexico and the Dairyland Power Cooperative.
“The US market has the capacity to double its hydropower generation,” said Mike. “The potential exists for technologies to provide base and peaking capacity along with system stability for intermittent renewables. Halcrow’s expertise offers opportunities to integrate hydropower development into client’s projects to provide broader system benefits and new value streams. I look forward to helping to respond to these opportunities.”
“We are extremely pleased to have Mike join our team. His experience in hydropower, ocean energy and critical issues facing the globe in the water/energy nexus will bring our clients unparalleled expertise,” said Mark Gabriel, senior vice president, power, for Halcrow in North America.
