The Canadian Institute of Steel Construction (CISC) has recognised two Halcrow Yolles projects in its annual National Steel Design Awards. The awards recognise excellence and innovation in steel design and promote the advantages of steel in construction.

Halcrow Yolles provided full structural engineering services for both award winners.

The Camilla and Peter Dalgish Atrium at the Royal Botanical Gardens in Hamilton, Ontario received the Award of Excellence in the architecture category. This project was recognised for its innovative use of steel framing which enabled the use of long spans – creating an abundance of natural light and transparent space.

The Transformation AGO project at the Art Gallery of Ontario received the Award of Merit in the engineering category. The strategic use of steel in this significant institutional project helped to realise many of the building’s striking features and facilitated a powerful connection between art and people.
