Halcrow’s award-winning experience in promoting sustainable travel in its Scottish offices was shared with members of the National Business Travel Network (NBTN) on Friday 12 November.
The NBTN, which promotes workplace travel planning as a cost effective way for businesses to reduce CO2 emissions and benefit staff, invited Jonathan Plant from the Glasgow office to speak at its members conference in London.
Entitled ‘Corporate Responsibility, Collaboration and Competitive Edge: Through Better Ways to Work and Travel`, the conference focussed on the business and carbon reduction benefits of changing travel and working behaviour.
Jonathan discussed the success of Halcrow’s Scottish offices in encouraging sustainable business and commuting travel. This success was recognised in June when Halcrow received the Business in the Community (BITC) sustainable travel award. Halcrow’s three Scottish offices in Glasgow, Edinburgh and Inverness, have all been awarded Cycling Scotland’s award for being a cycle friendly employer.
NBTN programme director, Heather McInroy said: “Halcrow is doing excellent work to reduce work-related travel impacts in Scotland. Our members learned a great deal about Halcrow’s approach, behaviour change programme and measured and evidenced results.”
Regional director Donald Bell said: “We were delighted to accept the invitation to present our ideas and talk about our commitment to sustainable travel. Through the action of our employees, Halcrow is at the forefront of sustainable business and commuting travel in Scotland.”
