Her Royal Highness The Princess Royal welcomed newest RedR patron, Halcrow, at an anniversary reception on 8 November marking 30 years of improving disaster relief worldwide.

The reception, held at St James’s Palace, London, was attended by more than 160 guests, including RedR patrons and corporate supporters, business leaders and academics, RedR trustees, vice presidents and members.

Presenting certificates to Peter and other new patrons, HRH said: “Before, during and after a disaster, RedR needs the support of its patrons. Independence of funding is vital to be able to do what we know we need to do. It is a pleasure to welcome the new patrons on RedR’s 30th anniversary.”

Peter commented: “Halcrow’s purpose - to sustain and improve the quality of people’s lives - is very much aligned with that of RedR. I know that our employees will be delighted that we’ve become a patron.”

RedR is an international charity that improves the effectiveness of disaster relief, helping save and rebuild the lives of people affected by disaster worldwide. It does this by delivering essential training and support to relief organisations and their staff, and by providing skilled professionals to humanitarian programmes. Its work enables both local and international relief workers to react to the needs of those affected by disaster, efficiently and safely.

The Institution of Chemical Engineers (IChemE), The Institute of Engineering and Technology (IET) and Tony Gee & Partners LLP were also welcomed as new patrons at the event.
