Prize for Halcrow year in industry student

I’m delighted to have won the award. Civil engineering is one area I’m really interested in pursuing so this should stand me in good stead

July 2009

Halcrow year in industry student, Douglas Readle, has been celebrating winning a prize for contribution to civil engineering at the Year In Industry’s Contribution to the Business Awards.

The awards took place on 15 July and celebrate exceptional achievements of students on paid 12-month work placements within the Year in Industry scheme – an Engineering Development Trust venture.

Douglas worked from Halcrow’s Leeds office on projects for the Environment Agency. He left the agency over £5,000 better off, doing the work of higher paid staff, with 3D CAD animations for de-commissioned reservoirs in the Pennines.

Douglas commented on his win over 84 entries: “I’m delighted to have won the award. Civil engineering is one area I’m really interested in pursuing so this should stand me in good stead.” Douglas attends Calder High School in Leeds and starts a general engineering degree at Durham University in October 2009.
