The Halcrow Foundation’s vision is to bring tangible and sustainable improvements to the lives of people in need

April 2009

Representatives from the Halcrow Foundation were delighted to officially open the new patio at Swindon’s Prospect Hospice on Friday 17 April 2009.

The new patio was funded by The Halcrow Foundation, after an application was put forward from the hospice in October 2008.

After the day hospice was originally extended, it became clear that a new patio was required. This new larger patio creates an area that is sympathetic with the serene environment created by the newly-refurbished day hospice.

"Halcrow director, Neil Holt said: "It is great to see what a difference the extension to the patio has made and I am sure that its sheltered setting overlooking the hospice grounds will make it very popular with both residents and day visitors to the hospice. I know I speak for the company in saying that we are delighted that the Halcrow Foundation can help with projects such as this, and we look forward to doing more with the Prospect Hospice over coming months and years."

The Prospect Hospice’s fundraising Manager, Sheryl Crouch said: “We are thrilled to have been a beneficiary of the Halcrow Foundation enabling us to refurbish the patio area outside our Day Hospice.

During the summer months this is a lovely space for our patients and their families to use, the patio also means that some activities can even take place outside, we are extremely grateful to Halcrow for their support and look forward to a long and successful partnership”.

The Halcrow Foundation’s vision is to bring tangible and sustainable improvements to the lives of people in need by mobilising the goodwill and expertise of Halcrow employees and people associated with the company or the charity.

It aims to alleviate poverty and suffering around the world caused by natural disaster or as a result of people’s social and economic conditions. It does this through the development of education, health and other social services, the improvement of transport infrastructure, water supplies and other communal facilities and the promotion of self help activities.

Having been operational since January 2005, the Halcrow Foundation gained charitable status in the UK on 9 August 2006. It is registered charity number 1115729.

Halcrow donates one per cent of its annual profits to the foundation, as well as making a significant contribution in terms of people’s time and its resources. Halcrow’s employees also raise funds through a range of activities, such as sponsored walks, raffles and cake sales, as well as donating money directly. The general public are welcome to make a donation to support the foundation's work.

"The Halcrow Foundation’s vision is to bring tangible and sustainable improvements to the lives of people in need."
