Jacksonville’s Dames Point Container Terminal has scooped the Construction Management Association of America (CMAA) south west and Central Florida chapter’s gold project achievement award.
Halcrow was brought in as lead consultant to help deliver Jacksonville Port Authority (JAXPORT)'s flagship facility - one of the largest container ports on the US east coast. The team gained the necessary permits and designed and managed construction in an intense 42-month programme, finishing on time and within budget.
Project manager Paul Starr, construction manager Jack Belt, document controller Herman Floyd and inspector Sebastien Templeton were on hand to celebrate the prestigious award at a presentation dinner in Tampa on 12 May.
Paul said: “As construction and project managers, our challenge is to find innovative and imaginative ways to help our clients deliver projects on time and within budget, no matter what the size of the project. Halcrow is thrilled to receive this award as acknowledgement of our role on what has been an exciting and challenging project. We are grateful to JAXPORT for having confidence in us to deliver the biggest project in their history“.
During the evening Halcrow was strongly encouraged by the judging panel to submit the project for CMAA’s national project achievement awards. Winning projects will be announced at the CMAA national convention in Orlando, Florida, in October. Jack Belt added “This recognition will go a long way to meeting preliminary goals established as part of Halcrow’s new construction management/programme management initiative.”
