Halcrow has considerable experience in planning for freight and has gained specialist knowledge in producing and working with Freight Quality Partnerships (FQPs) to develop lorry routeing maps.
Building on our expedience with FQPs Halcrow assisted the Welsh Assembly Government and the Wales Freight Group in preparing the Wales Freight Strategy. This strategy has policies and strategies for all modes including road, rail, ports and shipping, air freight and pipelines.
As part of our role in development of the Wales Freight Strategy, we facilitated the launch of the Wales Freight Group. The Group includes a range of stakeholders such as the Freight Transport Association, Road Haulage Association, Rail Freight Group, port and shipping operators, representatives from Cardiff-Wales airport, and officers of the Welsh Assembly Government and the Regional Transport Consortia in Wales.
Through its work in the sector Halcrow realises the important contribution freight makes to everyday life and recognises its great importance to the world economy.
