The pedestrian modelling team adds value to projects by aiming to highlight issues early on in the design process saving clients valuable time and money.
Halcrow regularly undertakes static and dynamic pedestrian modelling focusing on a variety of built environments including public transport interchanges, airport terminals, retail centres, major event venues, stadiums and commercial premises.
With extensive experience using Legion and carrying out static analysis as well as being the original developers of Paxport, the team’s pedestrian modelling skills can help to;
- identify weaknesses in current and future designs
- carry out evacuation modelling
- test solutions to mitigate pedestrian congestion
- provide advice on optimising pedestrian movements
- validate designs for public space
We are well practiced in producing assessments in line with common industry guidelines and best practice but are also able to advise on appropriate measures in areas where these have not been set.
Additionally, Halcrow is able to utilise outputs from the Aimsun traffic micro-simulation models within pedestrian models using the ‘Aimsun for Legion’ module, thereby successfully modelling complex urban environments. We also have a licence to use the pedestrian modelling add-on for VISSIM should this be the preferred tool for an integrated pedestrian-traffic model.
